Tube Settlers for:
Aquaculture and Industrial Clarifiers
Tube settlers are used in clarifiers and sedimentation tanks to help remove particulate matter that is denser than water. The addition of tube settlers to existing clarifiers allows increased flow rates. The use of tube settlers in new installations reduces the footprint for a given flow rate compared to clarifiers without tube settlers. A tube settler reduces the distance that particles must fall before contacting a surface and being removed from the water stream. Raw effluent flows upward through the tube settler’s sloped tubular channels while gravity pulls the solids downward to the wall of the tube. When enough solids collect on the wall of the tube, they slide down the tube and fall down to the basin floor.
Tube settlers are used in many applications: Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), potable water treatment, wastewater treatment, lime softening systems for water cooling tower applications, and other industrial processes.
L S Enterprise LLC can offer tube settlers for replacement in existing systems or for new installations. NSF-certified products are available for potable water applications. We look forward to working with your design engineers on your project to make sure that your clarification problems are solved.
Advantages of Tube Settlers
The tube settlers can be applied to new or existing clarifiers/basins of any size:
- Clarifiers/basins equipped with tube settlers can operate at 2 to 4 times the normal rate of clarifiers/basins without tube settlers.
- It is possible to cut coagulant dosage by up to half while maintaining a lower effluent turbidity to the downstream treatment processes.
- Tube settlers can reduce the frequency of backwashing which results in significant operating cost savings for both water and electricity.
- New installations using tube settlers can be designed smaller because of increased flow capability.
- Flow of existing water treatment plants can be increased through the addition of tube settlers.
- Tube settlers increase allowable flow capacity by expanding settling capacity and increasing solids removal rate in settling tanks.
